Add CMake build support?

Hi there, creating this issue to discuss the possibility of CMake build files being added to the project. This could allow packaging, installation, and integration to become much simpler. Ideally it would replace the existing build scripts, and a new build script (or Makefile) could be added to wrap around CMake, for anyone unfimiliar with it.

I'd be more than willing to create a draft pull request if this is something you're interested in. This is something I think people would benefit from a lot, and it would allow me to make other possible contributions very easily, mainly when it comes to packaging.

This would keep things more tidy, and allow for more build modularity too. I saw you previously added debug information to the generated binaries (presumably to debug the mentioned memory leak), over here.

Someone would have to manually edit the file, or run gcc manually in order to create a release build.

Aside from that CMake also has a lot of other benefits, such as easier library management across systems, reduced code duplication (something that could become a problem in the future,) managing what source files someone wants to compile in the first place, etc.

No worries at all, please don't apologise. Such a project is a really big contribution into the space, and one you made voluntarily. You don't owe anyone maintenance, just focus on what you want to put out there.

Anyways, I created the draft pull request. It should hopefully work on your system, but it might not find your libraries if you don't have them installed system wide (common on Windows.)

Also, keep in mind it's unfinished, so I'd appreciate it if you'd wait before merging.
