About the app Node-Task-Queue-System

Node-Task-Queue-System is a basic task queue system built with Node.js. It allows users to add tasks to a queue and process them one by one. This project is ideal for understanding the basics of handling asynchronous tasks in a web application.

Features

• Task Queueing: Users can add tasks to a queue, which are processed one at a time.
• Task Management: Track task status (pending, processing, completed).
• Basic Error Handling: If a task fails, it's marked as failed.

• In-Memory Queue: Simple queue implemented using in-memory data structures (arrays).

Installation

1. Clone the Repository

   git clone https://github.com/username/Node-Task-Queue-System.git
   cd Node-Task-Queue-System

used nodemailer here mongodb://127.0.0.1:27017/your_database_name mongodb+srv://:@cluster0.xxxx.mongodb.net/your_database_name If using MongoDB Atlas (In the cloud) if you does not have db just pass this default string 2. Install Dependencies

npm install

3. Start the Application

   npm start

4. Access the Application The server will be running on http://localhost:3000.

Usage

Adding Tasks

You can add tasks to the queue via a POST request to /tasks. Tasks will be processed in the order they are received.

Example:

curl -X POST http://localhost:3000/tasks -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"task": "Send email to user"}'

Monitoring Tasks

You can view the current status of tasks by making a GET request to /tasks.

Example:

curl http://localhost:3000/tasks

Steps to contribute and generate PR(pull request)

clone the repository

clone the forked repository to your system. Go to your GitHub account, open the forked repository, click on the code button and then clone the repository. If you want to use the terminal, use the following commands after you fork the repository, open the terminal type the given command

git clone repo url

create a branch

create a branch on your local repository to solve a problem.

Terminal commands

git checkout -b your_new_branch_name

add & commit

add your changes(folder) to that branch. Make necessary changes and commit those changes. Terminal commands

git add .
git commit -m "your-commit-message"

push changes to github

finally, push your local repository to the remote repository compare & submit a pull request

terminal commands

git push origin 

Go to your repository on GitHub, you'll see a compare & pull request button. Click on that button.

Now submit the pull request.
