On that page, look for the file ending in .exe under the Assets section. Click the filename to save the installer to your computer.
The software works on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Your computer needs at least 8GB of memory for the best experience.
- Find the .exe file in your downloads folder.
- Double-click the file to start the setup.
- Follow the prompts on your screen.
- Select the folder where you want to keep the program.
- Click finish to complete the setup process.
Once the setup finishes, look for the ppocrv6-studio icon on your desktop. Double-click this icon to start the application.
The main window shows a clean area for you to drag and drop your images.
You drag image files like JPG or PNG directly into the main window. You can also click the Open button to browse for files on your hard drive. The application processes the files after you click the Run button.
This tool includes three versions of the OCR engine: Tiny, Small, and Medium. You select these versions from a menu at the top of the screen.
- Use Tiny for fast results on older hardware.
- Use Small for a balance of speed and accuracy.
- Use Medium for the best performance on complex documents.
The software displays the text it finds on the right side of the screen. You can copy this text to your clipboard or save it as a text file for later use.
If the software fails to open, check the following items.
- Ensure you have enough disk space.
- Verify that your version of Windows is up to date.
- Restart your computer if the program stops responding.
The program creates a log file if an action fails. You find this file in the settings folder under your user profile. Send this file to the support team if you need help.
The software includes a feature for testing performance. This feature, known as OmniDocBench, shows how well the model recognizes your specific type of documents. You run this test from the Tools menu. It provides a score based on character accuracy. Use this score to decide which model version fits your needs best.
Your computer must meet these minimum standards to run the software.
- Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- A processor with at least basic speed.
- Two gigabytes of free disk space for the program and the model files.
- Eight gigabytes of system memory.
The software works offline. It does not send your data to any servers. All processing happens on your local hardware. This ensures your documents remain private.
Can I run this on a Mac? The current version supports Windows. The core technology in this project does support hardware acceleration on Apple silicon chips, so macOS support might arrive in future updates.
Does it support handwriting? The model reads clear, printed text best. It might struggle with messy handwriting. Use the Medium model for the highest chance of success with handwritten notes.
How do I update the software? Visit the download link again to find the newest version. You can install the new version over the old one. The installer keeps your configuration settings.
Is there a limit to the number of files? You process as many files as your computer hardware allows. If you load too many files at once, the program might take longer to respond. It works best if you process batches of twenty files or fewer.
Can I export the results to Word? The software exports text as plain .txt files. You open these files in any word processor, such as Microsoft Word or Notepad, to format them as you wish.
This tool serves as an workspace for your document needs. It gives you full control over how you convert your images. You keep your files, your settings, and your data on your own computer.
